Apple’s top executive is leaving the company after he made crude remarks in a TikTok video.  Mr. Tony Blevins was seen in a viral TikTok video making a crude joke which was perceived by many as inappropriate. Blevins came under fire recently after a video of him surfaced in which he made a derogatory joke about women.

In the wake of the controversy, Blevins has decided to step down from his position at Apple after serving the company for about 22years.

What Happened in the TikTok Video?

On the 5th of September, Daniel Mac a creator on TikTok and Instagram who often asks people with fancy cars what they do for a living dropped a series.

In the video, Apple executive, Mr. Tony Blevins, was caught by Mac while parking a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, an out-of-production sports automobile that sells for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

According to the captioning for the video, Blevins responded to the question about his occupation by saying, “I race cars, play golf, and fondle big-breasted women, but I take weekends and major holidays off.”

According to Forbes, the executive’s response was a reference to the 1981 film Arthur, whose protagonist claims, “I race cars, I play tennis, I fondle women, but I have weekends off, and I am my own boss.”

Regardless of whether the allusion was recognized, the phrase “big-breasted” in the sentence seems derogatory.

How Have People Reacted to the Executive’s Remarks?

The executive sexist comments didn’t go well with the public. However, Blevins apologized, but it seems a bit late already. After the whole sage, he announced that he is leaving the company.

How Did Apple Respond?

A representative of Apple told CNBC on Thursday that Blevins would be departing the organization.

The 22-year Apple employee has also commented on the video since it became viral. In a statement to Bloomberg, Blevins stated: “I would like to use this occasion to express my heartfelt apologies to anyone who was hurt by my misguided effort at humor.”

Employees reported the video to human resources, which sparked an internal investigation. According to Bloomberg, Blevin’s former coworkers were upset by his offensive remarks in light of the firm’s claims to be advancing diversity and women’s empowerment and their claims to support them.

What Does This Mean for Apple?

Well, for starters, it’s a pretty big blow. This executive was in charge of some of the company’s most important divisions, and his departure wil leave a big hole in the organization. Not to mention the fact that his comments were extremely crude and offensive — Apple will have a lot of explaining to do as they try to regain the trust of their customers. But it’s not all bad news. There are other executives at Apple who are more than capable of taking on the challenges ahead.

Conclusion

It’s been a rough day for Apple. First, they had to deal with the fallout from a crude remark made by a top executive in a viral TikTok video. And now, just days later, one of the top executives is resigning.

This is not good news, and it’s still not clear what implications this will have for the company. But one thing is for sure – they need to get their act together and enforce better standards for their employees. It also serves as a reminder that you need to be careful about what you say online because it can come back to haunt you.
